Woodley Island Walk

A morning walk with my wife at a spot that is a frequent setup for plein air painters. Home of one of the marina's on Humboldt bay, this island is the mooring of an abundance of classic wooden fishing boats. The early light was dramatic as it projected  deep shadows and warm colors across the complex surfaces. Starting out as a study this one is a studio piece depicting a spring morning on the north coast of California.
